還是有點不懂。 平均餘命是 life expectancy，是指各年齡組預期能活到幾歲的平均。 平均壽命是life expectancy at birth，是指0歲嬰兒這一年齡組預期能活到幾歲的平均。 所以...我們平常愛說的「女人通常可活的比男人久」，意思是「平均壽命」而非平均餘命？

科技的東西不好翻，但其實，說起來以下這種句子也不算很科技吧...應該算是商業用語才對， 但...弄了好一會兒才弄懂。 先看以下句子： 由於4月下旬中國勞動節 庫存回補 需求不如預期，2Q12除少數平板計算機及智能型手機新機型上市 備貨效應 外，多數系統產品及記憶卡應用市場依然持續受到1H淡季效應影響，呈現疲弱不振的狀況。  inventory replenishment for China’s Labor Day holiday was not as expected. 翻譯某人履歷時， 看到  Synergistic Activities 這個項目 想了半天，查了半天， 後來發現其實就跟我們平常在英文履歷上寫 Activities 類似， 只是用synergistic 比較屬於跟自己的學經歷相關者， 於是取其意，譯為 「 相關 經歷」（有別於「工作經歷(work experience)」或 「專業經歷(professional experience)」

公司的Chairman，不是主席，而是董事長 (Chairman of the Board) 總經理不是general manager，而是 president，或譯 總裁。 CEO 台譯 執行長，陸譯 首席執行官

今天看到「 為什麼有錢人都用長皮夾？ 」這本書的簡介與某些部落客的心得。 當然，這標題直截了當且引人注目， 說穿了，本書說的就是有錢人「惜財」與重視每一筆收支價值的觀念。 不過，這真讓我覺得有錢人的想法跟我很不一樣（難怪我是全公司最窮）。

農工原料： 一般而言， 農工原料 大致上就等於所有原料 (含油)。 raw materials = agricultural and industrial raw materials

連寫兩個idiom...也不是我願意的啊... 這個比較複雜 --- hair of the dog不就是狗毛，能有多複雜呢？ 當它用於 "Hair of the dog is no way to cure the economic hangover from China's wayward policies." 這句時，就讓我感到很複雜。 以前沒特別注意過，直覺上認為這應該是個俚語。幸好，我的英語直感還不算太差： ＊ hair of the dog (that bit on)  來源： 早期，被狂犬咬到的民俗療法，是從咬人的那隻狗身上拔下一根毛，放在被咬的傷口上。 移用： 解宿醉的酒。 對，你沒看錯，就是用「酒」來治「酒」（所以這俚語可不可以譯為以毒攻毒？）。 也就是，有種解宿醉的民俗療法，是用加了酒在內的解酒液來緩解；因為這道理跟以前治狂犬咬傷有點像，所以就用hair of the dog來指稱這類「解宿醉的酒」（之所以用「這類」，是因為有很多種recipe，我本人沒喝過就是了，不知道有沒有效？

在新聞中看到這個詞， 馬上聯想到前晚看影集 Castle 時，一群人去墓園挖寶藏（the jewelry from a heist 20 years ago is possibly buried "under the gun")，相互拿槍對峙的畫面 有趣的是，有人說 a Mexican standoff 是雙方對峙即可，有人說至少要三個人，有的則說最標準、最吻合的情況是三方對峙。 我個人覺得，越多人越符合這種僵持， 畢竟，這個詞說的是「難解的（no easy way out）的對峙」 愈複雜，自然就愈難解囉！ 以下為網路文章例句及釋義：

今日學習心得 - 撰寫報告時，最好是 有憑有據 。 即使是明明白白的道理，若無憑據則只是揣想、推論、假設， 若能有 引用的文獻 出處、或有 相關的數據 支持 (或自己透過研究證實當然更好)， 才至少作到 基本功夫 。
