有譯無譯，記之繼之

輾轉搜尋著譯詩， 發現，William Blake常被引用的一首詩， 雖然我們幾乎慣性採用「一沙一世界...」的中譯版本， 但嘗試另譯的人也不少。 To see a World in a Grain of Sand, And Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand, And Eternity in an hour. -- Auguries of Innocence by William Blake 也許你不知道，其實，這四句只是原詩的開頭，這首詩...很長！( 點此閱讀原文 )

做翻譯真不容易。 有時，雖然被稱讚，但被稱讚的點卻教人莫名其妙。 舉例來說，據近日新聞報導，將「任性」翻譯為capricious，竟被媒體形容為「神準」！ 媒體也是任性吧.....（意思是，媒體都很支持 --- 不懂？請讀下去）

正如中文說「掌上明珠」，英文卻說是「眼中的蘋果」(apple in the eye)， 許多片語、俚語雖可直接對譯，但中文跟英文使用的比喻，卻不相同， 因此，容易產生誤會。 例如： climbing the walls 乍看之下，會想：這不就是中文的「狗急跳牆」嗎？
