有譯無譯，記之繼之

金融字彙： Bitcoin [專有名詞] 比特幣 (bit 在此是「位元」的意思，因此也有人譯為「位元幣」） Bit coin is a term that's coin ed for a type of virtual money (hence "coin"). ----------------- 上面那句解釋是我自己亂寫的，只是因為想玩玩coin這個字： coin 的名詞義為 錢幣、硬幣， coin 當動詞用，想當然爾有「鑄造錢幣」之意， 但也有「 創造，杜撰（新詞等） 」的意思。 連我都想拿這字來玩文字遊戲，以觀點精闢、寫作精鍊聞名 （我會不會太狗腿） 的經濟學人雜誌怎麼可能不想， 於是，今天就在它的網站上看到了這麼一篇文章， 看看那標題，好妙啊！

讀Financial Times，讀到以下文字， " Making more money may require resorting to the ‘three dirty words of finance’ " ( Markets: The investor’s dilemma 2013/7/10 By John Authers) Three DIRTY words?? 真引人 遐想 ....不，是好奇啦！ 當然，這三個「字」翻成中文，就是三個「詞」啦。 那麼，金融市場究竟哪三個字（詞），被認為是「沒那麼光彩（dirty）」的呢？

hyperlink讓學習也成了觸角無限延伸的思路網 原本只是要學franchise這個字的相關用法， 不意看到 franchise player這個詞 這似乎是美國才用的運動術語

首先，證所稅 不等於 證交稅 --- 後者是針對交易課稅，比較不痛不癢， 前者是針對證券交易的所得課稅，也就是資本利得稅 「 證交稅 是針對行為課稅，目的是為了增加稅收; 證所稅 是針對結果課稅，目的是為了公平租稅。」 在此不論優劣取捨，只看英文。 因此，證交稅是 securities transaction tax 證所稅則是 capital gain(s) tax 美國國稅局網站 Ten Important Facts About Capital Gains and Losses capital gains tax (複數) 一般比較常見。 capital gain tax (單數) 也有其支持者，例如IRS的表格(見下方e.g.)就是。 原則上，兩種皆可。

紐時今天一篇文章 The Debt Ceiling’s Escape Hatch 建議， 美國舉債上限問題將再次逼近， 或可發行一種scrip (「臨時借條」) （該文圖片有趣極了！！挖洞的美鈔暗藏解決方案密碼 :p）

簡單來說，devaluation 是刻意為之，例如希臘如果退出歐元區，就可將希臘貨幣刻意貶值，以此減債。（是一種 currency re-valuation，台灣在全面換成 新台幣  的時候，也是這樣） depreciation 則是一般匯市波動下的匯率下降。 NY Times這篇寫得很清楚： Many writers treat devaluation and depreciation as synonymous. This may be what confused Mr. Harrington. Clarity dictates restricting devaluation to a deliberate change in the official value of a currency like that of the dollar in 1933-34. Depreciation is the right word for a fall in the price of one currency in terms of the currencies of other countries in response to supply and demand. 還是有點不懂。 平均餘命是 life expectancy，是指各年齡組預期能活到幾歲的平均。 平均壽命是life expectancy at birth，是指0歲嬰兒這一年齡組預期能活到幾歲的平均。 所以...我們平常愛說的「女人通常可活的比男人久」，意思是「平均壽命」而非平均餘命？

翻譯某人履歷時， 看到  Synergistic Activities 這個項目 想了半天，查了半天， 後來發現其實就跟我們平常在英文履歷上寫 Activities 類似， 只是用synergistic 比較屬於跟自己的學經歷相關者， 於是取其意，譯為 「 相關 經歷」（有別於「工作經歷(work experience)」或 「專業經歷(professional experience)」
